i recently bought a ex council house that the previous owner bought in the 90's.the lease is owned by the local council and there are loads of restrictions some of which have been ignored, specifically a conservatory has been erected without their permission which is required in addition to planning.i'm wondering if i should buy the freehold

ask your local planning officer first, but you are usually allowed to build a conservatory within a certain size, and if the previous owner had bought it off the council then the restrictions would be lifted off the property, check that there is doors between the conservatory and the house if its open then doors would have to be fitted due to part L of the building code
