Hi,

please can someone help with the following if poss?

I have a square downpipe that is going into a round downpipe hole. I know you can get a square to round downpipe adapter however...it's not me who is fixing the downpipe in...it's my stepdad and he is certain it can just be cemented in. Does anyone know if this will cause a problem if he did this - I have mentioned the adaptor however he says his way will work.

I just don't want to incur huge problems/cost further down the line if he does this and it backfires! If his is right I owe him a bottle of wine : )

Many thanks in advance for any help/advice,

A

Hi flo45
Provided any gaps around the downpipe are plugged with something like newspaper bits before the cementing takes place all should be OK.
A square to round adaptor is a much better solution, costs very little in terms of buying and time fitting.

Thank you - will try and persuade the adaptor is the best way but at least if this is not an option it can be done :)
