Hello,

I'm looking to build a 2.5m x 8m pool. 1m deep at shallow end and 2m deep at deep end.
I'm looking to do a Insulated Reinforced concrete base with rebar mesh.
Few questions
1. What subbase and base should I use?
2. Does it need to be thicker where the under walls will be like house foundations
3. Can i use 200mm insulation?

Hi daveyseagrave,
What you use as a base for the concrete will depend on the subsoil condition - if it's peaty or made up land you will need a deeper base. Boots on the edge of the base slab should be adequate.
How important this all is will depend on whether you are building a liner pool or a tiled pool.

I believe it's clay soil. Based on research from similar projects the plan so far is.

Mot type 1
None compressive insulation
Membrane
Rebar and mesh
300/400mm concrete base.

Do you think non compressive insulation is completely nessesary? I haven't seen it used anywhere else but was told to use by another DIY pool builder.
