I've recently had a new condensing boiler fitted, a Valiant 828 as mentioned and like everyone am extremely pleased with its operation. However when the timer switches the boiler on there is a large noise like a foghorn when it starts up !!! I've listended to it outside and trust me, it is loud. Anyone got any clues why this may be ? :?:

Get a corgi man out - you might have a serious problem. Noises like that can be down to undersized gas supplies and any other number of potentially serious problems, so get it seen to.

if your gas man has a combustion analyser get him to check the co2 in combustion % as this will indicate if you are burning correctly it should be between 8-9%

Get it checked, sounds like low gas pressure. very good boiler though.

Using Natural Gas or Propane with a high efficiency boiler is the way to heat your home A hydronic heating system that uses radiant technology is the best heating system that you can have. With proper installation technologies you can be heating your home or business with water that rarely needs to be more than warm in temperature. Because of this a condensing boiler is the heat plant that will produce the warm water you need to heat with at ultra high efficiencies. I have personally installed many of these boilers and have had then running in the very high 90% efficiency range. This will get you the most BTU's possible out of your natural gas or propane.
