Hot water only when there is central heating?

by piggy456 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 4:28 pm

hi I have a potterton performa 28 he

Recently it has stopped working and required resetting (little switch on the boiler). It has happened 4 or 5 times within the past 2 months. I just assumed it was due to the extreme cold weather we been getting and me using more heating and water .

Now there is only how water when there is central heating, and sometimes the boiler fires up even when in the off position?

The heating engineer who help me out during the past two months un fortunately has moved home as he is normally the person I turn to.

So any help would be appreciated.

without a doubt its your diverter valve, you can buy service kits but they will never last as long as buying a complete new valve and can also fail to cure the problem, also they take twice as long to fit as you have to take the whole valve out anyway and then strip it down whereas its take old 1 out and put new 1 in
