Fitting a new gas fire

Hi there
im just moving homes and my new home has an old brick gas fire, all i want to do is replace it with a new gas fire, but i keep reading about is the why's that i should not do it my self, surely its just a case of making shoure the floom is clear and that there are no leaks? if not please say many thanks Darren.

if it were that easy i would not have to retake my corgi certification every 5 years!
you need to make sure that the chimney is suitable for the fire,
that you have the correct volume in the builders opening(doesnt mean his builders bum!)
does your new fire require ventilation as many new DFE fires require ventilation ,so its not as easy as just checking the chimney and having no gas leaks,which fire are you planning to have?
(you should be Corgi if you plan to do this)
