Costs Involved in Gas Meter Move

Hi all. After some general advice regarding gas and electric meter move.
Having a new kitchen fitted and would like to move the meters from one side of an internal wall (kitchen) to the other (utility room). The move is literally 6 inches through the wall, and as far as I know requires no additional work up to the property e.g. the meter tails need lengthening only.
Npower have advised they won't do this as it means the meterboard being moved.
I spoke to Cadent who have advised that the gas meter move would cost £760!!! It might cost less, depending on the survey, but I have to pay £760 in advance and wait to see if they refund.
Does this seem right? Any advice or suggestions?
