I have a gas cooker connected to the gas supply via a bayonet fitting. I need to disconnect the cooker to move it whilst laying floor. The plumber who installed the cooker advised not to disconnect it as on reconnection air in the pipe could cause a problem. Help please!

Your plumber is an idiot.

Is he Gas Safe registered?

The valve is designed to be self sealing and is a permissable method of disconnection, and is designed to be used by any individual.

It is not classed as "gas work"
