Fitting a gas cooker

I've just moved into a new house and want to re-do the kitchen. The previous owners had an electric cooker, but i'd like to fit one with a gas hob. There's a a gas line running from an internal cupboard with the meter in to the boiler on the outside wall of the kitchen. We want to put a cooker somewhere along the line of this pipe, but we're not sure exactly where in will finally go.
Is it possible to get a corgi engineer to put a branch on this line, with a flexible hose to the cooker allowing us to move the exact location at a later date ?
