Please explain this...Corgi fitter and myself confused?

My Corgi fitter has just fitted a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 42CDI. It is supposed to have a working pressure of 18mb minimum.

Initially, the standing pressure at the boiler was 20mb which dropped to 14mb on test.

The fitter fitted a more direct (4 bends max wide bore) pipe from the meter to the boiler which produced a standing pressure at the boiler of 28mb!

On testing the working pressure was 16-17mb!

Just what has one to do to get this boiler to work within the manufacturer's spec?

Your CORGI registered installer should be able to sort this out. If the working pressure is 16 - 17mbar then he needs to get the gas provider out to set the meter governor so that it is 18-22mbar (20 +/- 2).

If the working pressure is 20mbar at the gas meter, then it should be 19-20 at the boiler. Your only allowed maximum 1 mbar drop across the system.

Also he should have measured the length of the pipe run to work out what size pipe is needed.

"Just what has one to do to get this boiler to work within the manufacturer's spec?"

Get rid of the CORGI registered installer you've been using, this is the basics of working on gas, if he cant do it - he shouldn't be working on gas.

This level of lack of knowledge of basic gas work,on the basis of the facts given, suggests it would be worth checking whether this person is in fact a genuine CORGI. If he is Corgi registered, it would be worth asking Corgi to pay for the costs of putting right the defective work. My personal view is that regulatory bodies should have an obligation to compensate the public in such circumstances. You may not get anywhere, but if you dont ask you dont get.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!
This is correct

Your CORGI registered installer should be able to sort this out. If the working pressure is 16 - 17mbar then he needs to get the gas provider out to set the meter governor so that it is 19-23mbar (21 +/- 2)
