Fitting secondhand double glazed window.

by Gary B » Wed May 14, 2008 9:23 am

Hi.

I am building a work shop and have been given a secondhand double glazed window.
To fix the window into its final position I have to remove the fixed glass by removing the internal plastic beading so I can gain access to the fixing holes.

How do I remove the beading, and replace it?

Many thanks,
Gary B.

you will need a flat scraper or sharp wide wood chisel and hammer.
where the bead fits against the frame you will need to place the chisel
in the middle of the bead and lightly tap with the hammer until a gap appears continually hit the chisel with the hammer and ease the bead out
then when re fitting the glass use a plastic hammer to hit the bead back into position.

Thanks for your reply welsh brickie.

I was not sure if the beading came away from the glass or the frame, or what to use.

Thanks again.
Gary.
