Hi,

We have just had new pvc patio doors fitted (doors open out) where there used to be a window and while it is a refit the internal plasterwork has been chipped back to the internal reveals (like a new build). The patio door coverage on the external reveals are 4mm on one side and 6mm on the otherside. This seems very small I would have thought it should be around 15mm on each side. Can anyone help are there specific regulations.

Thanks
Collin

there are no specific regs,if you want more frame showing you can get add ons to the frame they are strips of plastic that clip to either side of the doors thickness can vary but start at 10mm .

im affraid welsh brickie is slightly wrong about the regs.
each profile will come with a tech manual stating the expansion excpected in warm conditions this will vary from colour to colour selector state white frames should have a 5mm gap allround where as rose wood should be 15mm all round.
As we live in a world where things must be done asap frames are measured to fit snug as possable so no trimming in needed and just a silicone seal is used.

The 4mm and 6mm gap you have will be fine.
