On converting a small store to a downstairs toilet area I am about to replace a clear double glazed unit with an obscure one. Is there an industry standard to which way round I fit it? Obscure glass inside or outside. Or doesn't it matter.

A new glazing unit shouls come with a sticker stating which is the outside/inside.

If the original window was installed prior to 2002, then the D/G unit would not have to be ordered using insulating glass. Therefore the obscure pane would be inside. If however the window was installed later than 2002, or you wish to order insulating glass then the obscure pane would go to the outside. This is because for the insulating glass to be energy efficient the clear side needs to be inside, as they cannot apply the insulating coat to obscure glass.
