Removing & reinstalling existing Upvc window.

I live in a block of flats and there is serious damage to the lintel in my sitting room. The specification for the repair to the lintel entails removing the existing uPVC window, deglazing it and then re-fixing. The window is 5' tall and 11'6" wide, with the central pane being 1/3 of the area.

Is re-fixing the old window (and it is several years old) reasonable or should I expect the whole thing to be replaced?

The expense of the work is coming out of the maintenance budget, so not my cost. Are they cutting corners? Should I insist on a new installation?

Liz-by-the-Sea,
If the window is OK now and it can successfully be removed and re-installed I think you will have problems convincing anyone that a new window should be fitted.
In an ideal world a new window should be fitted.

Not what I was hoping to hear! However I am beginning negotiations to get some contribution because I'm not really happy about it.

Thanks.
