Can I cut a steel reinforced lintel to size?

by MichaelJo » Thu Aug 06, 2009 2:23 pm

I want to replace an old wooden bathroom window with a new upvc window.
Above the old wooden window is a piece of wood above the brickwork, this will have to be removed and a lintel put in place.
What i need to know is can i buy a lintel and shorten it to fit the gap?
I am a novice diyer, the bathroom is downstairs, single storey.
