Double Glazing locking mechanism failed - replavce unit?

All three opening windows in my bedroom glazing unit are unusable. All operate partially, in that one end of the window moves, but the other seems to remain locked. Two windows are hung vertically, and in both cases it is the mechanism at the top of the window which does not seem to unlock properly. The third window is hung horizontally, and this also has one end that no longer "unlocks".
It is all a bit bizarre - the top opening window failed about two weeks ago, then the first side window failed a week ago and finally the second and last side window failed on Friday.
Any ideas from fanyone about what might have caused this, and how I can avoid having to replace the whoel bedroom unit? The stuff was installed around three years ago.
Any help very gratefully received !!!
thanks
