Cat Flap Needed to Fit in Narrow Glazing Unit

Hi, I'm wanting to get a cat but my only realistic option for a cat flap is to put it in our uPVC French doors which have two narrow panes of double glazed reinforced glass. I know that it is easy enough to get the panes replaced to include a cat flap but the glazer I spoke to says that there needs to be 10cm each side of the cat flap in order that the glass remains sturdy enough. Our panes are only 31cm wide and therefore the hole for the cat flap would need to be only 11cm wide... All the cat flaps I can find are wider than this. Do you know if there are narrow ones or if there is an alternative solution for this issue?
Thanks
