uPVC Front Door Adjustment to Remove Gaps Post questions and find answers on glazing, double glazing, upvc glazing, conservatory glazing, fixtures and fittings etc....

[attachment=0]Door.jpg[/attachment]Our uPVC front door has three hinges with two adjustments (see photo). Currently the door when locked has a gap at the bottom on the handle side.

I have tried all the adjustments on the side opposite the hinges, but still this gap (1/8" give) is present.

Can I ask what does the adjustments on the hinges do?

Perhaps I should have said that they are 2 horizontal screws and one vehicle screw (under the plastic cover at the top) to do adjustments!

They are called Butt hinges.

Not much adjustment to them. The two allen screws on the side adjust the cam of the hinge to slide the door side to side. Remember you have to place an allen keybin both grub screws and turn at the same time making sure both are matching the right direction (should be a mark on the face of the grub screw). Usually clockwise means away from the hinge and clockwise towards the handle.

Under neath the hinge should be another adjust nut to raise or lower the door by 2mm.

The pin in the hinge should be knocked back in unless its bent. Only remove the pin if you want to remove the door. There should be another screw in the middle on the hinge to hold this in place. Undo the screw fully reinset the pin and then lock the screw back up. But only hand tight otherwise youll round the edges off the screw.
