Turn a Top Hung Window into a Side Hung Window?

I have a timber framed, top hung casement window with standard friction hinges on each side.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to make it into a side hung window by removing the hinges from each side, and replacing them with side hung hinges on the top and bottom of the casement?
The window is 850mm wide by 1480mm high.
