Sound Proofing and Number of Window Panes

I am replacing a single glazed window with acoustic double glazed window.

The current window has 3 vertical panes, middle pane opens. In terms of sound proofing, an I best sticking with 3 panes, or reducing the amount of frame by having 1 large pane (i.e. combining two of the existing vertical panes) and then 1 opening pane?

Will reducing the amount of frame improve noise reduction?
Thanks
