Broken down window units advice

Our windows are around 17 years old and many are now seriously broken down, misted up and some lead falling off internally. I have been told by double glazing company that I should not replace the units as they will only last two years, and I will then need new windows anyway. He says the reason the units are fogged up is because the frames are not good quality.
Is this true? Or is he telling me porkies to sell me new windows? Would I need to change the frames?
Any help really appreciated.

Hi srir03
Depends on what your frames are made of.
If it’s timber the skills to successfully instal DGUs in them are long gone.
If they are aluminium you have a good chance of the units lasting 10 years.
If they are upvc it will not be the units that are the problem it will be glazing bars and seals which may no longer be available.
