We've recently had a new Apeer composite door fitted by a FENSA registered company costing £2k+

Due to the large plaster lines I was advised that they would need to allow extensions to both sides of the door to give enough clearance when they surveyed for the door fitting

When the frame/door was fitted there was approximately 35mm gap each side between the frame and brickwork that was filled with expanding foam. There were no Frame extensions fitted to the frame each side. There was also no plastic packers used when squaring the frame and just screwed into the brickwork?? The expanding foam was then covered with UPVC covering strips to hide the gap/foam.

When I've queried this with them they have stated that - there is no need to pack the frame as concrete screws and construction foam has been applied down both external jambs??

Even though the door looks ok externally with the UPVC covering trim used are there any potential problems with the way it has been fitted?? If so how should the door have been fitted in this situation?? Why is ok not to use plastic packers when using concrete screws??

A 70mm fitting clearance is excessive, suggest you start with Fensa and see if they have any surveyors available to assess the door and its fitting.

As I mentioned in my original post I believe due to the large plaster lines the frame required to be made with large clearances. It's then the fact no extensions have been used to fill these gaps is one of my concerns.
