Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone can help me with the new building regs. I need to remove the plasterboard on my ceiling to install new electrics but I've been told that I need to replace it with fire resistant plasterboard is this correct? If so can you get this from the ususal diy outlets.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Normal plasterboard has a degree of fire resistance, but it depends on the situation how much you need.
Contact your LBC as if you are doing the electrical work yourself, and are not able to self-certify, you will need Part P certification from them, particularly if you ever wish to sell the property.

Only in "Houses of Multiple Occupation".

Plasterboard is naturally fire retardent anyway.

Its nothing new BTW.

Cheers
