My plans show 60mm rock wool requirement in the ceiling beneath a loft extension floor to achieve 1/2 hr fire protection. Can anyone tell me please whether a wire mesh is necessary to support the rock wool or whether it is sufficient to wedge the flexi rock wool slabs between the joists? Rock wool technical tell me that the 1/2 fire protection is achieved by the plasterboard ceiling on its own! Thanks for any help.

are you sure it is fire protection it is usually required for sound/thermal insulation. fire protection is usually taken care of by the plasterboard and plaster (I am just starting out to do a loft conversion and rang B Regs to fiind out if i needed fireboard or ordinary plaserboard they told me that the ordinary stuff is ok as long as it is plastered on both sides this was about wall though Jem leeds
