Hi all,
My first post here so thanks in advance for any help you can give (also hope I am posting this in the correct section!)
I have a new build house, 8 months old. With the recent changes in temperature and weather I have noticed condensation forming in the loft to the point where there are wet patches forming on the ceiling of the top floor rooms (the wet patches seem to follow the line of the joists not sure if this is relevant). The are in the loft is very wet and musty to smell.
I contacted the site manager (even though he has since moved on to another project) and have contacted Persimmon directly and both have given the standard advice on reducing condensation in the home but no on is keen to come and take a look.
I understand that well insulated lofts will cause the roof area to become cold and susceptible to condensation but surely not to the extent that the insulation is sodden and there are wet patches on the ceiling? I also thought there would be some kind of membrane between the insulation and top floor that would address this but there does not appear to be.
I would like to be on a firmer footing when I challenge Persimmon further so any advice or experiences anyone has would be really helpful
Thanks
Phil
