loft mould caused by poor insulation

Hi, my loft suffers from black mould on the walls. I have read just about every way and cause for this and hope i'm not leading myself up next doors path.
The black mould appears to be where the people who originally did the studwork used the glass fibre flooring insulation very poorly. So over the years bits have fallen off leaving area's of cold spots and condensation black mould behind.
Without ripping all the plaster boards off (as getting behind the studding is impossible) can I use another insulation barrier on the walls ? i'm not keen on using poly type boards because the fire and dripping prospects (in case of fire) frighten me more than the mould and of course insurance valid/or not.
Ok can I use an extra layer of plaster board to keep temperature differences at bay ?

many thanks in advance
