Measuring Heat Loss With a Temperature Probe After Insulating House

by Woody363 » Sat Feb 18, 2017 5:47 pm

We have recently insulated a large part of our house and want to see how effective this has been.

We have a laser temperature gun that can quickly measure the temperature of different surfaces, there is measurable difference (a few degrees) between insulated and uninsulated surfaces, but translating this into rough heat loss measurements is unclear.

I'm assuming that measuring the difference between steady state internal wall temperature and ambient air temperature will be able to calculate rough heat loss rates through walls/windows/floor etc

Cheers,
Woody
