Liner Below Loft Insulation in Victorian Semi

by alfie_j » Fri Oct 27, 2017 9:14 pm

Hello fellow DIY-ers,

I recently moved into a Victorian semi which has no loft insulation, so obviously that's going to be one of my first DIY projects!

However, the ceilings in some of the bedrooms below are starting to show their age and I'll probably want to have them taken down and replaced sometime in the future. In order to avoid having to remove the insulation before replastering the ceilings I'm considering laying some sort of liner or mesh over and between the joists before laying down the insulation so it doesn't fall down if the ceilings are removed. What would be the best material for the liner? Would something like a a weed control fabric or garden mesh be suitable. Does the material need to be breathable?

Thanks,

Alfie
