Kingspan Loft Insulation and Boarding Help for a Newbie

Hi everybody,
First post here and no doubt many more to come.
Just spent our first winter in our new house and its not the warmest! I just checked out our attic and the only insulation is between the floor beams, 150mm wool, but it's not been done to the best of standards.
What i was wondering is if i can replace this with kingspan then put boards over the top, and if i can what thickness should i use? It is a small attic space and i cannot stand in there so i need to put floor boards down after as it just killed my knees crawling on the beams, this is why i want to make sure i get the insulation right before i do
i know in the rafters i'd need to leave 50mm for air circulation but i can't really find any information regarding the beams.
Thank you all
