Loft Insulation in Detached House With Suspended Ceilings

Hi, first posting but a lurker for a while...

We’ve purchased a 1920s build large detached house with a series of upstairs bedrooms with suspended ceilings. The ceilings were put in by a previous owner and consist of voids about 12-18” deep filled with about 100mm of insulation. The main roof space above these voids has no insulation and there are a variety of knock-thrus in the original ceilings leading to the voids.

We can’t get any more insulation into the voids as the access is limited, what I’m trying to work out is whether it is worth putting down insulation in the main roof space or whether the numerous holes would make this a waste of time and money. A few of the holes could be covered but others are left from a chimney breast removal and would be very hard to fill in.

The walls are solid 9” brick construction and I’m planning on studding some of these as well to help with the heat loss but that’s an on-going project.

Any ideas gratefully received!
