Boarding my loft, after full insulation.

I have just had the loft fully insulated by the council. I now need to board the loft, but am not sure how this can be done now that the joists have been covered with the insulation.
I know that the insulation should not been squashed down, but have heard that you can buy brackets to "raise the floor level" to board onto?
Does anyone know if this is ok and if so, what do these brackets look like and where do I get them from?

Depending on how much insulation has been placed over the top of the joists let presume 100mm I would suggest cross battening with 50-100mm timers prior to boarding. Except for the slightly reducing the thermal efficiency (U value) squashing the insulation will not have much of an adverse effect.
