Fitting new Door Handle Should I use Wood Screws or Bolt Through?

Hi,
I'm replacing a bathroom door handle with lock. The current handles have 4 screws in each corner and i've got a replacement which has 2 holes in the top and bottom centre.
It's come with wood screws and bolt through screws and instructions are a bit confusing as to which to fit. Would the bolt through screws just be used if the door is hollow or should they always be used ie would 2 wood screws in the centre be enough hold it stable enough?
I know this is a pretty noddy question!
Cheers in advance
