5 lever mortise sash lock removal problem

Tried removing my 5 lever mortice sash lock but hit a snag when it wouldn't come out of the door. I removed one of the handles and the square bar that runs through the door, I also removed the faceplate but when I went to pull the lock out of the door it only came halfway out then hit a stop. I've put a fair amount of force into trying to get it out but I'm worried I'm going to rip some of the wood out and have to replace the door. It feels like something is getting caught but I can't see anything through the key or handle holes and similar locks online seem to have fairly smooth sides. I was wondering if I am missing something or if there is a better way to get it out?

Hi mouldy97
Most probably the lock is just a tight fit in the recess. If you have a modern door with egg box construction the lock may be hitting the stile or the stile may have been split and this is causing the catching.
