When building a block retaining wall approximately 4 foot tall with soil behind to 3 feet does the wall need to be double thick?

Depends how thick the blocks are really Trevor! If you are using standard 4 inch blocks then it would be best lay them flat making a 9 inch wall.

Did you build the wall? if so, single or double thickness? I have a similar job to do!
