Damp Course Re-Pointing

Some of the pointing just below the damp course on my bungalow is crumbling away in a small number of places. A neighbour has told me that I should use PVC or PCV product in the mix so that it adheres better to the plastic in the damp course. Anyone know what he means.
Thank you.

He means add PVA glue to the mix to give it better adhesion to the surface.

Thanks, Dan. Could you state what proportion to use?

I'm a plasterer not a bricklayer so I could be giving you wrong info but I would add it to the water 1 part pva to 4 part water, again though read the tub and see what info it gives you.
