Hi all

Read through the fireplace guide and very helpful. Opened up an 1960s bricked up fireplace which orignally must have had a back boiler, flue/chimney is ok just in need of some minor repairs and was planning to install a fire back etc for fire.

However upon looking for fireplaces I came across fireplace combination which include everything including firebacks etc built into fire with mantel etc

Is this enough?? I'm a bit unsure about leaving the cavity behind where the fire will sit just as brick; do I need to "steer" the fumes to the flue or with the updraft be enough??

Any help would be terrific

Fireplaces are a bit of an exact science and two are very rarely alike in so much as any change in opening size alters the way a draght works. Get the fireplace person to look at your opening on site to see if its ok for your opening.
