I am doing some renovation into my bathroom, which is made of 3 different type of walls; one stud, one brick (external one) and 2 strawbales.
For the stud wall, i am putting "sister" on every studs that are not levelled, that is to get the tile backing boards as flat as possible (I am using 10mm thickness Marmox board).
For the strawbale wall, i am planning just to lay the 10mm marmox onto it and screw it down with wallplugs. (do i need waterproof between ?)
For the brick wall, i am rendering with Bostik Cementone to get it as flat as possible and level but it takes me a few layers to achieve a decent flatness, although i will also use 10mm marmox with wallplugs to fix it (along with flexible tile adhesive)
For the ceilng, similar than the stud, i put "sisters" studs to get it levelled and will use 30mm marmox.
For the floor, after removing all the old cement/concrete that was breaking too easily to my taste, i have done 2 layers of 10mm each blue sika self leveling and covered with Bostik waterproofer. I found the waterproofer is a pain to use, as it is very runny, if the floor is not 100% flat, the waterproofer will become really thin on some areas and form a "paddle" on others. I am planning to scratch it off and use a aquaseal membrane+primer instead. (i plan to have electric underfloor heating), but this Bostik waterproofer is a real pain to remove, can i just do another sika self leveling on top of it ?
Question for the brick wall... do i have to waterproof it too ? (i planned to do so)
The other part of the job is regarding the floor concrete in the adjacent corridor. I have removed some buried copper pipes and therefore break the same crappy cement/concrete base, which i have now to fill back.
i have used the Breeanm Blue Circle Ready To use concrete, is that a good/bad idea ? the instruction water mix gave me a not so runny mixture enough for my taste and i was struggling to fill corners and gaps, so i have added a tiny extra water to do so. The thing has dried up and look very strong.
Project is far from being finished but at this stage is there anything obviously wrong in my work ? any other advices ?
