New External Door Opening Advice on Size of Return Needed

I am considering putting a new door opening on my house which will be to an external wall. The wall is not loadbearing (single storey) and it is double skin and a solid brick wall. The door opening would be close to the corner of the property. How close can the opening be to the corner externally - what should the return measure?
I have seen measurements from 1 metre to 675mm and someone said they had done a new doorway with 500mm and then someone said no return - just the width of the double skin of the adjacent wall. But I think these are measurements for cavity walls and maybe loadbearing.
I am wondering if my wall is single storey, solid brick and non loadbearing what is the minimum measurement that is suitable?
