Lintel Infill for In-Opening Garage Door

Hi,
I am replacing an in-opening garage door with a rear face-mounted garage door.
Existing garage door:

The lintel above the garage door is not flush with the surrounding brickwork. I need to infill the gap to ensure I have a tight seal between the frame of the new garage door frame, and also be able to fix into it.

I have considered packing out with timber, but it is an awkward shape so will be difficult to achieve a tight seal.
Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers
