Hi all. My flat has been flooded by the person that lives above. The person above me put the bath on and fell asleep. As a result the water ran over the side of the bath and ran under the floor along my ceiling and flooded my flat. It also ran down the inside of my bathroom walls and soaked my walls from the inside. The insurance company are going to send a guy out with a dryer. I'd like to know if the flat is dried out will the plasterboard in my bathroom dry out too or will it crumble and the tiles fall off?

I really need the advice as soon as possible.

Hi Stuart,
Tough one! only time will tell all I can suggest is once walls have been dried out check the tiling is secure. You will most probally find that the water will leave marks on plasterboarded wall/ceilings and that will need addressing too

Thank you for you for your help. The guy that was in with the dehumidifier said that the bathroom will need completely stripped out and redone and most of the ceilings with need redone too. Bloody depressing really! :x ! Doh! lol

sorry to hear of your woes, these things happen.
I had a recent problem not quite as bad as yours. Plumber decided to bodge up ballcock and valve in toilet. Wasn't a problem at begining as it worked fine. (I wasn't aware that it had been bodged) The pin was just striking the disconnection pressure valve so he "the plumber" had decided to put a wooden wedge down the side of the pivot joint on ballcock arm so pin would strike. It worked loose the other day the valve didn't close the overflow could not take the in rush of water and the ceiling in the kitchen and a section of the front room too, the carpet was statuated and some books on a book shelve will never be read again! I was lucky in the fact I was only nextstore talking to neighbour. I'd only redecorated three weeks earlier.
So I know how you feel!

Thanks for that KB. It gets worse though! After the guy brought the dehumidifier I went back on Monday night after work and there was a split in the pipe that was feeding the water down the bathroom sink and it was all over the floor! Then on Thursday he brought another one. I put it on a towel so that I could reduce the vibrations so that I could leave it on all weekend. I went back on Friday night to check it b4 I went home home and found the tank was leaking on this one! ahhhhh! Why can't anyone do the job there supposed to do and do it properly first time! :( lol Am laughing now but I tell you it was far from funny on Friday night!

Unfortunatley I think that no one is trained correctly or gives a flying hoot these days!
I'm glad you are able laugh about it, it's nightmare when it happens but what can you do.

Hey its all good! insurance are on to it and going to fully pay out. the whole bath room needs re plastered and most of the liveing room walls need done too. All the cealings in the flat need to be replaced! :-(

Any hoo its all getting under way on the 28th July so it'll fine! lol

All done! Yeeha! did the kitchen our selfs. looks fantastic. Finaly we can get back to normal again hehe. Now for xmas! lol
