Plasterboard Paper Ripped!

Hi all,

I have removed a glued on dado rail and a rather horrid stuck on 8 inch paper border from my son's new bedroom.

Unfortunately the removal has ripped the top paper of the plasterboard in some areas, the board is fine and undamaged apart from this, my question is: can I sand down the plasterboard and paint as usual or do I have to scim the ripped paper areas with new plaster before painting?

Hi rappo,
what you need to do is fill out where the paper has been torn,
You can use the polyfiller type but I would use tape jointing compond, easyfill is the best stuff but most DIY stores do ther own brand.
You fill out a little above level with board ( i'm talking mm) let it dry, wont take long in a dry/heated envioroment and then sand down untill smooth and even. Then prime before painting
