Hi martinhines,
firstly if you intend to dot'n'dab this wall you need a sound surface to work on so the adhesive will bond.
Basics tips are
mix your adhesive as instruction on bag, wet wall down and board where dabs are going.
Dabs about every 10 or 12 inch apart. start at edges of board( i put them on the board some mark the wall and dab on to wall)
Place board on wall and tap with straight edge to get good purchase to wall,
repeat with next board, trying to keep them level and straight with each other especially at the joint.
the method will change depending board size, i always use 8x4's
You need a level and a straight edge, hammer, tape, stanley knife, etc..
