Closing an alcove with Plasterboard

Hi, just about to tackle my first plastering DIY - am I correct in assuming the best way to close an alcove is by making a wooden framework and then screwing plasterboard onto it. If this is so, should I then tape and close the edges onto the existing walls as well.
Any tips would also be appreciated.

Hi your correct by what you are assuming, The timber frame known as a stud or stoving wall. should be fixed at both sides and top and bottom securely and you will also need to measure your centres for board fixing normally every 400mm but some do 600mm. Make sure the timber is set back far enough from joining wall to take 12.5mm board and 6mm of scim (2application of 3mm)
