Fill a hole

Recently had a toilet replaced and an old overflow pipe was taken out leaving a hole right through from internal wall to external wall about an inch in diameter. Have had to remove some wooden slats that previous cistern was leaning against and and quite a bit od loose plaster so have a patch of wall about a foot across by 6 inches deep to recover. But want to know how is best to fill the hole where the waste pipe went through to outside before I start the plaster job. Advice welcome

fill hole in external wall, with some mortar, that will do job fine.

Presumably I do the same with the internal wall?

should be okay to fill internal wall with mortar too.
