Hi doing up old sitting room in late 1970's house.
problem is cant get old layered wall paper off the wall which is dabbed on plasterboad. Looking for a clean wall when finshed to paint etc..
Questions are
1)can I just mushroom fix plasterboard straight onto existing wall.
2)can i mushroom fix thermal board(insulted plasterboard) direct onto external wall.
3)Would it be better to strip off back to block and
a) fix battons and apply thermal board direct (is it safe to leave that cavity air gap)
b) fix battons and use polly board insulation inbetween battons and then fix plasterboard
