Drylining onto lathed wall or brick

I am about to start removing loose plaster and dryline. Should I fix the new boards to the existing lathed wall, or remove the lathes and dob and dab directly on to the brick?

Hi Andy,
if it's a lathe wall, will timber frame behind it. I'd recommend you remove the plaster and lathe. It's a messy time consuming job especailly when it comes to pulling the nails out of the timber, but worth it in the long run gives a good sound surface to board on to and you can also insulate the inside stud work.

The latter - you'll find it a lot easier to get it vertical.

Be sure that the wall was not L&Pd for a reason, if its an outside solid wall covering with plasterboard can create damp problems.

Be sure that the wall was not L&Pd for a reason, if its an outside solid wall covering with plasterboard can create damp problems.
Thats a valid point but as long as the DPC isn't bridged I don't see a major problem.
