plasterboard alternatives

Has anybody heard of a product called magnesiacore board

yes, it's the relatively new, all-singing, all-dancing alternative to gypsum and cement boards.
if the manufacturer's claims hold true then it will soon supercede what have now become the more traditional sheet materials.
never used it, though keen to give it a try - once it becomes available over here. currently not widely available outside of N America, if at all in the uk except in very small quantities and sizes from specialist suppliers (artists in N America have taken to using it as alternative to canvas)
one issue is probably going to be cost when it does eventually hit our shores - don't know how US$ prices shape up but once shipping, import taxes and UK distribution are added on i can't imagine it will be a viable alternative cost-wise for a while at least unless somebody here gets to produce it under licence.

Just got a price for a pallet, 65 boards 8x4x3/8 3,000 us dollars plus duty and everything else. Product sounds great but the price is something else.

yowsers! a conservative estimate puts that at over £30 per sheet - 5 times more expensive than the equivalent sheet of plasterboard. i really can't see that the benefits of this material justify the cost. i can't see it catching on in this country for quite some time!
