Hi,

I have a 12 x 12 room what has a inset door area into the room. Because of this I have an external corner that then runs out into the 12 foot wall.

The walls are all currently plastered and painted. They have taken knocks and bumps over time and I would prefer to have them re-skimmed rather than spend hours messing about trying to patch fill and sand all the small marks and holes.

My question is this, if I put an angle bead from floor to ceiling on this external corner and bond it, I can then bond the inside around the door as it is only about 14 inches from bead to back wall with bonding plaster and feather board off ready for a final skim coat but what about the other side of the bead that opens up onto 12 feet of wall ?

I do not need to bond out 12 feet of wall that is already plastered and surely the depth of the angle bead would be too much for skimming along.

Can anyone advise the best way to work from the angle bead out onto a large open wall that is already plastered and not in need of bonding out.

No need to "bond" anything from what you say Rich. You can buy top coat beads which are angle beads for skim plaster so all you need to do is tack them or stick them on with a little skim and simply prepare and skim the wall.
