Hi,I have had a lot of new plastering done(skimming) and was told(by plasterer) to coat it with a solution of pva 1:5 which I have done. Now I have read that that is wrong and it should have been watered down matt emultion. What can I do now ,I want to paint all the new plaster am now worried that the emultion will not stick.Should I sand down all the wall or wash them to remove the pva mix.Can I solve this problem before I paint. Please help, thanks

Dont worry about it, just paint over it, I use watered down pva and have done for years on new plaster and it works for me, theres a lot of speculation to wether pva is suitable to use on new plaster, I personally use a very thin 1:10 mix and it works for me, a lot of people will say "No dont use it" and I never suggest it to people but I've done it for years without any problem. You will get problems when its too thick as it could peel off, as long as you use it almost like water it will be fine.

thank you
