hi all, i have recently bought my first house and the plaster has come away from the walls, i had one plasterer in and he said just to skim over it or plasterboard it.

what should i do, shouldnt i knock it all off and start from the lath/brick or would it be sufficient to just skim over??

If its back to lathe then i would re-sheet the wall, Too much work in skimming as its too deep, would need bonded out 1st then 2 coats multi_finish.

Remove the loose stuff and see whats there.
If lathes mix up some stiff basecoat/hardwall/Browning and gently push it between the lathes to give it a key, push it in leaving a space to add the top coat. Wait for it to dry then top coat, using a straight edge, paint brush and water.
If its a solid wall, push in the Browning, leaving a space to top coat, then level with the rest of the wall.
